As a lacanian analyst, my action is aimed at making a space for the subject of the unconscious, the subject of speech and language subjected to the Other's absence and defect, and the defect of the signifier. I support the place of the Other as absent, awaiting a formation from the unconscious in the subject's experience of the re-starting of the drive. Such formations are constituted in slips of the tongue and bungled actions, the dream, symptom and in fantasy, and offer the possibility of the construction of a knowledge through the chaining of signifiers that evoke the subject's position in relation to the disruption the Other's absence and defect introduces into the life of the subject. By encircling the object at stake in repetition with the signfying chain, the signifier drains off some of the excess introduced into the being of the subject in the form of suffering, and makes possible a new relation to what has repeated itself in the subject's life
